Valor

I stepped into the day focusing on valor - being true to my values. In my professional life I am often challenged to compromise on my values. Our values are the most important set of guides that will guide us through stormy waters. If we sacrifice our values there is not muchleft to give us a sense of direction. If you adopt a "Life is relative" approach then values become an important point of reference. I have spend long hours deliberating my core values when I realized how important values are. They are temporary absolutes that calibrate my personal global positioning. I have become to realize that others will have different values and that I need to respect them. My core values are: Individuality, growth and making a positive net contribution. They are simple but has directed me often when I felt confused or stuck. Beneath these there are secondary values like honor, persistency and gentleness which support the execution and expression of my main values. I come back often to these values to reorient myself towards life.

Waking up
I wake up in the morning. The day opens up with new expectations but fill it up with concerns and projections. I close my eyes hoping to hang on to the present moment feeling for a while longer. Pushing away the concerns of what will happen during the day. The energy surges through my body as it begins to breath life force. "The day is fresh" that is the only thought I allow to stay active. The open space in my mind is peaceful and undisturbed in its beauty. But the future expectations are circling this space with jealousy like a pack of wild dogs circling their prey. I take a bit of this present moment experience and put it inside my pocket....something of this experience must travel with me through the day. As the space of peaceful awareness implodes the jubilation in my heart continues. I know that I would be able to stop at any time during the day and touch the treasure I have taken in my pocket today. The laugh of youth fills the air as the secret of vitality reveals itself.

Potential

The Longman dictionary of contemporary English defines potential as: "the degree of possibility for developing or being developed" or "existing in posibility" or "not at present active or developed". The Wizard-Warrior's path begins when a person realises there is more potential in that person than what has manifested up until that point. The aim of the Wizard-Warrior's path then is to develop natural techniques and insights for the human individual to live to his full potential. This path creates a tension between what is and what could be and use that tension as the energy source to expand the individual's potential. First the individual must begin to gain an insight into the reality of his greater potential. The next would be to understand that simple techniques help the individual to experience the difference it makes when potential becomes a central point of focus. The third is to acquire a process of expanding consciousness of potential and actioning steps to bring some of that potential into actual reality.

I am not writing about greed, needs and wants. These are all illusionary. I might want to be a doctor but do not have the potential to be a doctor because I am mentally retarted. Potential is building and expanding on natural and existing skills and capabilities. Potential is about exploring areas that has never been explored before. It would be a safe hypothesis that argues that even the most well achieved human being has far more potential than what could ever be imagined. The limitations of a human being has not yet been reached. As Wizard-Warrior my quest is to be a being who continuously expands into my potential being.

Many philosophers look of humans are negative to the point of leading to a hopeless depression. The Warrior-Wizard look at human beings as being with potential. At this stage potential is not classified in terms of moral standards but just as a basic ability. We will indeed also have the ability to be more criminal than what we are. If we want to understand our full potential it must also include understanding the shadow or dark side of ourselves. This does not mean that all potential needs to be developed. The Wizard-Warrior believes that he should develop self as a diferentiated and uniquewhole that is well integrated into the whole of which he is part.So potential is developed into the direction of greater wholenessthat must make a greatercontribution to the wholeness of the containing wholeness. Thus individuality is continually developed with the aim of enfusing a positive energy into a continually expanding sphere of influence.

The mind is seen as the biggest limitation on expanding personal potential. Our thoughts connects us to the past - past attempts, past failures and past teachings. It is thoughts that spin the web that keep us from expanding. Our growth is only in the areas where we thing growth is possible. In stead of being an ally to our quest thoughts becomes a constraint and enemy to advancing into our potential. Intuition is the counter balance to the limitation of thinking. Intuition opens up the doors into the portals that link us to our personal worlds of greater potential.
